Been single for over a week now. Strange how many things can get done when there is no one else around to direct your efforts. A fellow at work displayed how ignorant he was about retirement - AND - he retires next June. Or so he says so. He is not the first one to reveal how little they know about their own retirement system. The stories are about the same no matter what retirement system someone is in. If one does not take the time to read/ask then they are doomed to suffer the results of bad decisions.

I know we're thinking about it already! We know there's a lot of planning that goes into retirement. Your work's lifetime of planning. I want to be able to enjoy retirement when it comes... and knowing SS won't be there for us. Or at least not planning on it!
I have run serious retirement calculations at least annually for the past 10 years. Prior to that I had a very good idea as to what to expect as retirement income for the previous 10 years. I feel comfortable that we will do better than most.
